Micah 5:2-5, Psalm 34

I wanted to write a song that would fit in both the ‘Christmas’ and ‘worship’ genres, one that might even be sung congregationally, and that would inspire us to remember what it is were so excited about this time of year.  Whenever I stop and think about it, I am moved to worship & overcome with joy that Jesus, “being in very nature GOD, did not consider equality with GOD something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.  And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient to death—even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name,  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians 2:6-11)

O little town of Bethlehem, how still you seem tonight

But up above your dark streets shines the everlasting light

The promise you’ve been waiting for all of these years

This baby born within your walls has brought an end to all your fears

It is He, He is the One

The One who’ll take away our shame

The One creation’s been longing for

And we are so glad He came

We are so glad He came

How silently He’s come to us, this wondrous gift from heaven

With all our hearts and souls we sing of this blessing we’ve been given

The promise we’ve been waiting for all of these years

This baby who is Lord of all has brought an end to all our fears

Chorus

The promise we’ve been waiting for all of these years

Jesus, You are Lord of All, You’ve brought an end to all our fears

It is You, You are the One

The One who takes away our shame

The One creation’s been longing for

And we are so glad You came…
